Before & After

Missing these sweet moments in my studio right now. Normally, I just keep going. I don’t stop, ponder, and reminisce about my work. Honestly, between my home & work life, there’s not a whole lot of room to stop and reminisce. Well, until a global pandemic shuts everything down…suddenly I have extra time! And that’s what led me back to my blog today.

As much as my engineering, anti-writing, left brain fights this blog, I really need to find a way to embrace it as a necessary piece of my business marketing. One of my problems with this blog is I don’t know what to write about. It gets old quick “tooting” ones own horn. So, I need to establish a better focus and direction . And then it hit me, this is going to be my time to reminisce with you and count my blessings in this photography journey. It’s probably not going to be chronological and it’s not going to always be about my clients - it’s going to be one memory at a time!

Take the sweet composite picture above from one of my newborn sessions last year. This wasn’t the first time I had worked with this family. In fact, I had the pleasure of meeting them when they were selling their house and expecting their first boy (older boy pictured above)!! My real estate photography had collided nicely with my family photography business (such a cool blessing!!).

Fast foward a couple of years, and we find ourselves together again taking newborn pictures of their 2nd boy! For this particular photo, I was just trying to get a sweet brother pose. But as you can imagine, this is tough with a toddler & newborn. No worries! I knew if I could get a few good expressions from both boys, I could pull them into photoshop and generate a final composite. The two top pictures were combined to bring the final composite shot to life. Spoiler alert, the photography world runs heavily on composite pictures!! That’s actually what brings a lot of the “art” and life to a photo, in my opinion!! I don’t always have to generate a composite - but when I do I’m so glad I have the skills and experience. :)
